Agel L Arginine M2

Through years and years of research, scientists have proven that there’s a hugely important amino acid that could be the answer for many problems that people have with their health, as well as athletic growth. Agel Enterprises has taken these facts and ran with it, creating a product called Agel L-Arginine M2.

This product, designed in Agel’s proprietary gelceutical blend is a way in which you can take the product in single servings, where the gel formula will allow your body to quickly and very efficiently absorb the all important amino acid L-Arginine, so that you can experience the effects of all its great nutritional benefits for yourself – conveniently and without having to slow down from your ultra busy day.

L-Arginine was found back in 1938 to be the main factor of eliminating the toxin ammonia from the body. This essential amino acid is naturally produced by our own liver and kidneys; however it’s been shown that most people can benefit greatly from taking supplementary amounts because of all its additional health bonuses.

Agel L-Arginine M2, combined with Agel’s proprietary flavoring system to combat the normally awful taste of L-Arginine, does so much good for your body that it’s almost impossible to list everything.

First of all the product is known to help increase muscle mass and endurance by stimulating natural production of both creatine and natural human growth hormone in the body. This also helps in fighting normal everyday fatigue and increases energy levels so that you can get more day out of your day, without getting pooped out early.

Just as important to some people it also helps decrease body fat, so that you can more easily keep your weight down to healthier levels for long term health, as well as keep you looking good for the opposite sex.

Speaking of the opposite sex, L-Arginine is also a known factor in increasing natural testosterone in males, while aiding in sexual health as well. In fact, some men may find that they don’t that little blue pill anymore. For women, increased libido and sexual sensation is also often times experienced which leads to a much better life overall.

Beyond the scopes of our sexual pleasure, Agel’s L-arginine is tremendous for our overall health in general. Taking extra L-arginine can help you heal much more quickly, especially when it comes to severe burns, infections, or injuries. Healing time can possibly be much shorter letting you get back to your normal life much sooner than you thought possible.

Overall, it’s an amino acid that we produce and is essential to our daily lives, but with extra supplement amounts – especially when it comes in such convenient single serving gelceuticals as with Agel L-Arginine M2 – there’s a good chance that your life and health can be much better than you’ve ever thought possible.

Human Motivation For Exercise And Weight Loss

If you have made the difficult decision to lose weight - congratulations! For most, committing to their own fitness is a difficult aspect. But despite self-motivation, many people find they do not know what exercises to use for rapid weight loss.

There are three key types of exercise: aerobic exercise, such as biking or running; flexibility exercises, like yoga and other forms of stretching; and strength training, like bodybuilding.

Aerobic and strength training will help you work off the most calories. Since weight loss is dependent on either burning more calories or consuming less, it's best to focus on these at first to make sure your self motivation lasts as you drop pounds.

Typically, 30 minutes of aerobic exercise three times a week is best. Build the time and frequency as you progress.

But many people whose self-motivation has helped them to begin an exercise for weight loss program ignore the importance of strength training. Aerobic exercise burns more calories at first, but weight lifting increases muscle mass, and muscle burns more calories than fat. A pound of muscle burns 35 calories a day to function at rest; a pound of fat burns only two calories for the same function.

The fitness consensus used to tell us that to "build" muscle, you should perform fewer reps (3-5) at higher weights, and to simply "tone," higher reps (12-15) at lower weights was the best way. But there's no such thing as "toning." Definition that happens with what is incorrectly called toning happens because you have lost the layer of fat covering muscle, making it more visible. The size of the muscle underneath depends on how vigorously you train.

You must "tear down" the muscle so it can rebuild itself afterward. In fact, you do not build muscle while lifting weights but you do in the days after when the muscle is "resting." The common guideline for strength training is beginning with three sets of 8-12 reps at a weight that leaves you almost incapable of executing the entire set. Then, rest for 30-60 seconds before attempting your next set.

Don't be disappointed if you're not able to complete all of the reps on every set. In fact, use that to gauge when to add weight. If you are doing each set without any muscle strain, you will want to add weight.

Self-motivation helped you to start, but many people have trouble maintaining the pace. It helps to know that the source of our motivations is a belief. Think about it: If you didn't believe the gnawing sensation in your stomach meant you were hungry, you would not feel motivated to eat.

Understanding what ideas motivate you is key to weight loss, because when you feel powerfully motivated, you will exercise regularly. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is a form of self-hypnosis. And there are NLP methods that can build exercise motivation because, over time, desire to exercise for weight loss alone probably won't be enough to keep you working out. Hypnosis for exercise motivation therapy can help.

Your initial task is identifying the most important things in your life. We call these things your highly valued criteria. Highly valued criteria are typically intangibles: money would not be highly valued criteria, but the freedom, security or fun that money can provide would be.

Next, determine what you need to believe to feel highly motivated to exercise. It is important to remember that logic has nothing to do with belief. Things don’t have to be logical to believe them. You may realize you already have a belief that goes against this new idea. That is okay.

While understanding what motivates us is important, hypnosis exercise motivation therapy can put these ideas to work by ensuring self motivation endures. Hypnosis for motivation does this by changing the computer codes in your brain, so you accept ideas that motivate you.

Belief systems are based in our unconscious mind, which is like a computer. Computers do not have any capacity to reason. The input controls the output. The methods used in hypnosis for exercise motivation therapy can make you believe nearly anything, as long as you are willing to believe.

You begin by creating a picture in your mind's eye that illustrates something you already believe, like, "I love my children." Then you learn to calibrate the elements or 'Submodalities' of that mental belief picture.

Next, you make a mental picture that illustrates your motivational idea. Let's say your motivational idea is, "If I exercise, then I'll look great and my marriage will improve." Then you learn how to alter the Submodalities of this mental image to match with the Submodalities in your calibrated belief picture. On the other hand, if a belief is holding you back, the same technique can change that belief to doubt.

Hypnotherapy for motivation that uses NLP can provide you with something of an internal personal trainer. Using an exercise hypnosis motivation program ensures that the fervor you began with remains until reaching your objective, and then helps you maintain that objective.

Goals are good for fitness programs

Your physical activity as a bodybuilder will be gratifying if you remember that a good start to the training commences outside of the gym. After you get the OK from your physician to start your new workout, take a few minutes to reflect about what you hope to achieve and give yourself a time line. That is right, you need to set goals to see progress. The most adept bodybuilders in the world all keep files of their fitness objectives and successes, because this is a way to keep you inspired on a daily basis, even through the holiday season.

Write your goals in a fitness record that you keep in your gym bag. Writing out every goal makes them tangible, instead of just a easy hope for the future. Be practical, or you will be easily disheartened when you do not have a six-pack in three days or see defined leg muscles in a week. In short periods of time, focus on feeling healthier and then stay on track to strive for your long-term goals. Always set deadlines for achieving your goals, or else you will not stay committed. Many bodybuilders and their coaches urge setting small weekly goals. As you achieve these week by week, you will see that you are also making headway towards you larger goals. Having a timeline will make you feel guilty when you skip a workout or eat fatty foods-your fitness journal will keep you motivated. This is also a good place to record the weights you use and reps you do every day so that you can intensify your workout every time you head to the gym for more training. If you find in your records that you have seemed to hit a plateau, then you know it is time to take more rest days between your workouts to let your muscles rebuild.

There are many people who can help you achieve your goals. First, your doctor may be able to help you plan a safe beginning workout for your fitness level. From there, you can ask the advice of friends who are also bodybuilders, or you can go as far as hiring a personal trainer or coach. This is especially beneficial for bodybuilders whose ultimate goal is to compete. A trainer will not only help you plan your workout, but will also push you to reach your goals. Another person who can be motivating is a workout partner. If you have a friend who is on the same fitness level, go to the gym together and help each other achieve goals. This is also a safer exercise option, since you can spot one another with heavier weights.

Even if you do not complete some of your goals by your deadlines, do not get discouraged. Evaluate the growth you have made and your habits, and then either deepen your workout and eat a healthier diet or settle down your goals a bit. Bodybuilding is a hobby that takes a lot of determination and by setting goals, you will see results.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

All over the world various species of animals, insects, and plants are being slowly wiped out. Some may argue that it is the natural order of things, but human involvement has certainly exasperated the issue, causing untold amounts of damage to the worlds ecosystems. All of the world, that is, except for the Arctic Circle and Alaska.

The Arctic is home to many different species of birds, bears, fish, and other animals. Much of the Arctic is still unspoiled, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) intends to keep it that way. This organization and reserve sees the value in unspoiled landscapes and thriving wildlife.

The ANWR reserve spans over nineteen million acres, and within its boundaries there are over 500 different species of recognizable wildlife, and many more that have yet to be discovered. Some of the world's most succulent fish find their way in and out of this reserve, and many native tribes continue to live here.

Life, Untainted

Life continues to exist and thrive without human intervention. In fact, it could be said that the biggest attraction of the ANWR is the continuation of life cycles before the recent intervention of man. The wildlife continues to raise their young, hunt and forage, and evolve in peace.

This situation is particularly unique due to the climate of northern Alaska and the Arctic Circle- the extreme temperatures and high amounts of snow have kept humans and animals alike from setting up camp. However, with recent oil projects starting up in Alaska, the ANWR's role will become more important than ever as it strives to maintain the unspoiled solitude that the wildlife has enjoyed for thousands of years.

The results of this untainted lifestyle are easy to see: the fish are healthier and larger, the land animals graze in packs, and the hunters stalk without fear of reprisal. There is no pollution, no noise, and no intervention. Just nature doing what it was always intended to do.

See the Refuge

Close your eyes for a moment and picture the sun setting over the hills. A stream runs through the valley that you are standing in, and the few remaining rays of sunlight reflect off of the water, giving it a golden edge. A flock of Geese fly overhead, their call echoing unchallenged throughout the landscape. A few Moose stand at the base of the stream, drinking the golden water. You sense peace, and feel as if the world has all but disappeared, if only for a few fleeting moments.

You can open your eyes. Nowhere else in the world will you be able to see or experience something as tranquil and serene. Tourists are able to see certain areas of the ANWR and experience some of the magic themselves. But remember, life here is how it was meant to be, you may find that you won't want to leave.

The Mathmatics of choosing an Ideal Cult member

here is a book called "Geek Logic" by Garth Sundem that has created a list of formulas for decision making.

It's quite a blast because it strips emotions out of decisions that SHOULD be logical in the first place. For example given the choice between buying a lottery ticket and putting the 5 bucks into savings the LOGICAL choice is save the money. But how many of us yield to logic?

Another example is to ask how many bad relationships have you gotten into by ignoring the logic of the situation?

Turning a choice into a mathimatical formula makes these decisions obvious.

It also prompted me to ask "What would be some useful decision making formulas that would help us through life?"

I came up with one that is "The ideal cult member."

    Here are the variables:

    Sanity = S (0 = psychotic stalker, 5 = Emotionally Stable )

    Experimental = E ( 0 = fearful with lots of rules, 5 = fun loving gregarious and experimental )

Baggage = B ( 0 = broke, with kids, on meds with lots of issues , 5 = completely independant and making good income )

Attractive = A ( 1 = "I might have sex with if I were drunk", 5 = "I would have sex with 3 times for sure.", 9 = "I'd be happy having sex with this one forever." )

    [ (S^2) x (2B) x E ] + A

Note that if S, B or E are zero it would bring the score down to single digits.

1253 = The ideal cult member

701 and up = Join my inner circle

501 to 700 = initiate to first level

99 to 500 = must pay for more training

    9 to 99 = run

All About Filing Your Insurance Claim Form

Every adult beneficiary of a life insurance claim form needs to fill out a proof of death form for the company behind the life insurance policy. This requires a copy of the death certificate. Ask your insurance agent to get you these forms and help with the process. All of you have to fill out other associated forms too, that fulfill income reporting requirements for the IRS. The processing period should take less than a week. The insurance company will review your claim; confirm validity of the policy and fulfillment of other requirements. If the insurance company feels the policy conditions have not been met, for instance the death certificate may be missing; the phase is likely to be delayed until the requisite information is obtained.

A right of action arises for any person who receives a personal injury as a result of a road traffic accident involving another driver's negligence. This class of person could include drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and passengers. Everyone driving a vehicle on the road should have insurance, but this is not always the case. In cases where the driver does not have insurance or where the driver is untraced the Motor Insurers Bureau will step in in place of the insurer to protect the rights of innocent parties.

Insurance claim forms are normally included in the welcome pack sent to you with your policy. If you can't locate one you can download a form from the Internet or insurance company will arrange to send one to you. The Claims Analyst will also give you a list of the documents that will be required to enable speedy processing the claimin insurance claim form. Different documents are required for various policies. Examples of the most common are given below for your reference :

Auto - FIR (incase of bodily injuries/ property damages/ theft), Bills / cash memos pertaining to any repairs etc., Registration certificate/ Drivers license. Hospital cash - attending doctors' report, hospital discharge card/ proof of hospitalization with details of treatment. Cash personal accident (weekly benefit) - doctors' report, disability certificate from the doctor (if any), investigation/ lab reports (X-rays etc.), Original Admission / Discharge Card (if hospitalized), Employer's Leave Certificate specifying grade / designation, Salary Details. Death claims - Attending Doctor's Report, Death Certificate, Post Mortem / Coroner's Report, FIR, Police Inquest Report (where applicable). Personal accident (permanent disability) - Doctor's Report, Disability Certificates from the Doctor (if any), Investigation / Lab Reports (X-rays etc.), Original Admission / Discharge Card, Police Inquest Report (where applicable).

Each country sets on its own limits on how much minimum insurance claim is required. It may be tempting to save on the insurance for automobile, but it is not worth the risk involved. Vehicle insurance claim forms one of the biggest components of the total car cost, along with financing, warranties and maintenance and repair. An auto insurance specialist offers the following liabilities to a vehicle owner in a basic auto insurance policy.

    Blogging for SEOContest2008

What is blogging? This word is nowadays is getting famous and draws the attention of many people. When I first heard of this word, I actually don’t have any idea at all. The word sounds unfamiliar and it irritates my ears. I felt ashame of myself when a friend of mine once asked me that word. He asked me if I do blogging since I have my own website. I did not realize that what I am actually doing in my site is already about blogging. Blogging is not just writing what you think or thing what you would like to say, but it is all about expressing your emotion with feelings and most especially, BLOGGING is PASSION as what my friend used to tell me.

Today, since I already knew what blogging is all about, I can do many things about it. I am now actually using it for the newly launched SEOContest2008 in UK. This is actually my first time to join this kind of contest though my friends used to participate and have already won. My JRSEOContest2008 blog is my official blog for the SEOContest2008 brought to us by UK Webmaster World SEO Contest.

I actually name my entry blog as JRSEOContest2008 for the SEOContest2008 because I know that I am still a novice when it comes to SEOContest2008. I still have to learn much things about SEO and how to generate more traffic on my site. I am still, and I agree that I need to learn more for the SEOContest2008.

I know that in the SEOContest2008, there are many participants whom already won many contest similar to this. Though I know that I am competing with many SEO geeks, I stil believe in what my mentor has told me, it is about the “First Timer’s Luck.” Who knows, with this SEOContest2008, I can be on top of the others. That is how optimistic I am when it comes to the SEOContest2008.

Everyday, every hour, I always check on my status. I am always turning on my computer and search the internet using the keyword SEOContest2008 whether my blog is on the first 5 pages of the popular search engines. Well, I happy that after 3 days of registering my JRSEOContest2008 blog for the SEOContest2008, I remain on page 5 so far. I don’t know if this will drop, will remain as it is, or it will go up. This SEOContest2008 is really challenging to me as a blogger. I hope that I will do better that seeing my JRSEOContest2008 blog for the SEOContest2008 and not by simply remaining in page 5.

PRIDE and HONOR on the SEOContest2008

It is nearly 3:00 in the morning and my eye lids slowly close down little by little but I am still trying to fight it just to make my blog a competitive like the other blogs which were also registered in the UK’s recently launched Search Engine Optimization Contest or more popularly known as SEOContest2008.

Well, honestly, this is my first time to join the contest. I have been observing my friends, Gio and Philip joining different contest in the country and also watch them receive their awards winning home as champions. I am also aiming for that and I am still optimistic that I will be learning something in this SEOContest2008.

But, perhaps some may ask what will be the prize when someone wins the competition. For me, the best answer I could give is that, in this SEOContest2008, it is not actually the money which is important. What matter most is the experience and learning you will get upon participating on the aforementioned activity. This will give us (we the contestants), a chance to broaden our ideas and widen our imaginations by trying to figure out on how to optimize our website using the keyword given. At the same time, PRIDE and HONOR is priceless. That would probably be the main goal of every participants like me to have.

I know that there are tough competitors who already have their experiences but I will still stick on my belief, that nothing is impossible as long as you believe that you can do it. Anyway, to us believers and achievers, impossible is not part in our dictionary list.

So, to my fellow participants, I wish you all good luck and see you around. Make your best on the SEOContest2008.

    A Salute To A Friend

How will you call someone when he/she thinks of something, impossible is not a word that hinders him/her to stop and reach for what he/she crave for. It is hard to find word which will describe this kind of person. Perhaps, I too is having difficulties on how to describe myself to others because I am also the same person I am describing.

I know a person which has the same traits as mine. He, I should say, used to be an ordinary person but full of dreams and creative imaginations. I know him since I was still in college and he was also in the same school I was at. He is simple, talks very soft and friendly which kept him gained more friends. He was then fond of computers as he took IT incline degree and he was already a geek even when on his first year of school.

Today, with the knowledge nurtured in him, he recently joined the Philippine SEOContest2008 and emerged as the Champion. He has been competing in some SEO contests in the country for the past previous years and he was also a runner up on every contest he participated. I am referring to a friend of mine, the one who taught me how make money online, the one who gave me my very first website, and the one who told me to participate in the SEOContest2008 in UK. He is no other that MR. PHILIP TIANGSON, the winner of the Philippine SEOContest2008.

A very BIG thanks to you my FRIEND. Good luck to you and more blessings to come.

    Jose Rizal

Jose Rizal (full name: José Protacio Mercado Rizal Alonso y Realonda) (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He is considered a national hero and the anniversary of Rizal's death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal's 1896 military trial and execution made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution.

The seventh of eleven children born to a middle class family in the town of Calamba, Laguna, Rizal attended the Ateneo Municipal de Manila, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree sobresaliente. He enrolled in the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and then traveled alone to Madrid, Spain, where he studied medicine at the Universidad Central de Madrid, earning the degree of Licentiate in Medicine. He attended the University of Paris and earned a second doctorate at the University of Heidelberg. Rizal was a polyglot conversant in at least ten languages.[1][2][3][4] He was a prolific poet, essayist, diarist, correspondent, and novelist whose most famous works were his two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.[5] These are social commentaries on the Philippines that formed the nucleus of literature that inspired dissent among peaceful reformists and spurred the militancy of armed revolutionaries against 333 years of Spanish rule.

As a political figure, Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan[6] led by Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Aguinaldo. He was a proponent of institutional reforms by peaceful means rather than by violent revolution. The general consensus among Rizal scholars, however, attributed his martyred death as the catalyst that precipitated the Philippine Revolution.

José Rizal's parents, Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso Realonda y Quintos, were prosperous farmers who were granted lease of a hacienda and an accompanying rice farm by the Dominicans. Rizal was the seventh child of their eleven children namely: Saturnina (1850-1913), Paciano (1851-1930), Narcisa (1852-1939), Olympia (1855-1887), Lucia (1857-1919), Maria (1859-1945), Jose Rizal (1861-1896), Concepcion (1862-1865), Josefa (1865-1945), Trinidad (1868-1951) and Soledad (1870-1929).

Rizal was a 6th-generation patrilineal descendant of Domingo Lam-co (Chinese: 柯仪南; pinyin: Ke Yinan), a Chinese immigrant entrepreneur who sailed to the Philippines from Jinjiang, Quanzhou in the mid-17th century.[7] Lam-co married Inez de la Rosa, a Sangley native of Luzon. To free his descendants from the anti-Chinese animosity of the Spanish authorities, Lam-co changed the family surname to the Spanish surname "Mercado" (market) to indicate their Chinese merchant roots. Their original application was for the name "Ricial", apropos their main occupation of farming, which was arbitrarily denied. The name "Rizal" (originally Ricial, the green of young growth or green fields), was adopted by Jose to enable him to travel freely as the Mercados had gained notoriety by Paciano's earlier links with Filipino priests who were sentenced to death as subversives. From early childhood, Jose and Paciano were already advancing unheard-of political ideas of freedom and individual rights which infuriated the authorities.[8]

Aside from indigenous Filipino and Chinese ancestry, recent genealogical research has found that José had traces of Spanish, and Japanese ancestry. His maternal great-great-grandfather (Teodora's great-grandfather) was Eugenio Ursua, a descendant of Japanese settlers, who married a Filipina named Benigna (surname unknown). These two gave birth to Regina Ursua who married a Sangley mestizo from Pangasinán named Atty. Manuel de Quintos, Teodora's grandfather. Their daughter Brígida de Quintos married a Spanish mestizo named Lorenzo Alberto Alonzo, the father of Teodora. Austin Craig mentions Lacandula, Rajah of Tondo at the time of the Spanish incursion, also as an ancestor.

He who knows the surface of the earth and the topography of a country only through the examination of maps..is like a man who learns the opera of Meyerbeer or Rossini by reading only reviews in the newspapers. The brush of landscape artists Lorrain, Ruysdael, or Calame can reproduce on canvas the sun's ray, the coolness of the heavens, the green of the fields, the majesty of the mountains…but what can never be stolen from Nature is that vivid impression that she alone can and knows how to impart—the music of the birds, the movement of the trees, the aroma peculiar to the place—the inexplicable something the traveller feels that cannot be defined and which seems to awaken in him distant memories of happy days, sorrows and joys gone by, never to return.

Rizal's life is one of the most documented of the 19th century due to the vast and extensive records written by and about him.[10] Most everything in his short life is recorded somewhere, being himself a regular diarist and prolific letter writer, much of these material having survived. His biographers, however, have faced the difficulty of translating his writings because of Rizal's habit of switching from one language to another. They drew largely from his travel diaries with their insights of a young Asian encountering the west for the first time. They included his later trips, home and back again to Europe through Japan and the United States, and, finally, through his self-imposed exile in Hong Kong. This period of his education and his frenetic pursuit of life included his recorded affections. Among them were Gertrude Becket of Chalcot Crescent (London), wealthy and high-minded Nelly Boustead of the English and Iberian merchant family, last descendant of a noble Japanese family Usui Seiko, his earlier friendship with Segunda Katigbak and eight-year romantic relationship with his cousin, Leonor Rivera.

His European friends kept almost everything he gave them, including doodlings on pieces of paper. In the home of a Spanish liberal, Pedro Ortiga y Perez, he left an impression that was to be remembered by his daughter, Consuelo. In her diary, she wrote of a day Rizal spent there and regaled them with his wit, social graces, and sleight-of-hand tricks. In London, during his research on Morga's writings, he became a regular guest in the home of Dr. Reinhold Rost of the British Museum who referred to him as "a gem of a man."[11][10] The family of Karl Ullmer, pastor of Wilhelmsfeld, and the Blumentritts saved even buttonholes and napkins with sketches and notes. They were ultimately bequeathed to the Rizal family to form a treasure-trove of memorabilia.

José Rizal's most famous works were his two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. These writings angered both the Spaniards and the hispanicized Filipinos due to their insulting symbolism. They are highly critical of Spanish friars and the atrocities committed in the name of the Church. Rizal's first critic was Ferdinand Blumentritt, a Sudetan-German professor and historian whose first reaction was of misgiving. Blumentritt was the grandson of the Imperial Treasurer at Vienna and a staunch defender of the Catholic faith. This did not dissuade him however from writing the preface of El Filibusterismo after he had translated Noli me Tangere into German. Noli was published in Berlin (1887) and Fili in Ghent (1891) with funds borrowed largely from Rizal's friends. As Blumentritt had warned, these led to Rizal's prosecution as the inciter of revolution and eventually, to a military trial and execution. The intended consequence of teaching the natives where they stood brought about an adverse reaction, as the Philippine Revolution of 1896 took off virulently thereafter. As a leader of the reform movement of Filipino students in Spain, he contributed essays, allegories, poems, and editorials to the Spanish newspaper La Solidaridad in Barcelona. The core of his writings centers on liberal and progressive ideas of individual rights and freedom; specifically, rights for the Filipino people. He shared the same sentiments with members of the movement: that the Philippines is battling, in Rizal's own words, "a double-faced Goliath"--corrupt friars and bad government. His commentaries reiterate the following agenda:

    * That the Philippines be a province of Spain
    * Representation in the Cortes
    * Filipino priests instead of Spanish friars--Augustinians, Dominicans, and Franciscans--in parishes and remote sitios
    * Freedom of assembly and speech
    * Equal rights before the law (for both Filipino and Spanish plaintiffs)

The colonial authorities in the Philippines did not favor these reforms even if they were more openly endorsed by Spanish intellectuals like Morayta, Unamuno, Margall and others.

Upon his return to Manila in 1892, he formed a civic movement called La Liga Filipina. The league advocated these moderate social reforms through legal means, but was disbanded by the governor. At that time, he had already been declared an enemy of the state by the Spanish authorities because of the publication of his novels.

Wenceslao Retana, a political commentator in Spain, had slighted Rizal by a reference to his parents and promptly apologized after being challenged to a duel. Aware that Rizal was a better swordsman, he issued an apology, became an admirer, and wrote Rizal's first European biography.[13] Memory as a ten-year old of his mother's treatment at the hands of the civil authorities, with the approval of the Church prelates, hurt so much as to explain his reaction to Retana. The incident stemmed from an accusation that Rizal's mother, Teodora, tried to poison the wife of a cousin when she claimed she only intervened to help. Without a hearing she was ordered to prison in Santa Cruz in 1871, and made to walk the ten miles (16 km) from Calamba. She was released after two and a half years of appeals to the highest court.

After writing Noli me Tangere, among the numerous other poems, plays and tracts he had already written, he gained further notoriety with the Spaniards. Against the advice of relatives and friends, he came back to the Philippines to aid his family which was in dispute with the Dominican landlords. In 1887, he wrote a petition on behalf of the tenants of Calamba and later that year led them to speak out against friar attempts to raise rent. They initiated a litigation which resulted in the Dominicans evicting them from their homes, including the Rizal family. Eventually, General Valeriano Weyler had the buildings on the farm torn down.

In 1896 while Rizal was in prison in Fort Santiago, his brother Paciano was tortured by Spaniards trying to extract evidence of Jose's complicity in the revolution. Two officers took turns applying pins under Paciano's fingernails; with his hands bound behind him and raised several feet, he was dropped repeatedly until he lost consciousness.

Rizal was implicated in the activities of the nascent rebellion and in July 1892, was deported to Dapitan in the province of Zamboanga. There he built a school, a hospital and a water supply system, and taught and engaged in farming and horticulture. Abaca, then the vital raw material for cordage and which Rizal and his students planted in the thousands, was a memorial.

The boys' school, in which they learned English, considered a prescient if weird option then, was conceived by Rizal and antedated Gordonstoun with its aims of inculcating resourcefulness and self sufficiency in young men. They would later enjoy successful lives as farmers and honest government officials. One, a Muslim, became a datu, and another, Jose Aseniero, who was with Rizal throughout the life of the school, became Governor of Zamboanga.

In Dapitan, the Jesuits mounted a great effort to secure his return to the fold led by Father Sanchez, his former professor, who failed in his mission. The task was resumed by Father Pastells, a prominent member of the Order. In a letter to Pastells, Rizal sails close to the ecumenism familiar to us today.

We are entirely in accord in admitting the existence of God. How can I doubt his when I am convinced of mine. Whoso recognizes the effect recognizes the cause. To doubt God is to doubt one's own conscience, and in consequence, it would be to doubt everything; and then what is life for? Now then, my faith in God, if the result of a ratiocination may be called faith, is blind, blind in the sense of knowing nothing. I neither believe nor disbelieve the qualities which many attribute to him; before theologians' and philosophers' definitions and lucubrations of this ineffable and inscrutable being I find myself smiling. Faced with the conviction of seeing myself confronting the supreme Problem, which confused voices seek to explain to me, I cannot but reply: 'It could be; but the God that I foreknow is far more grand, far more good: Plus Supra!...I believe in (revelation); but not in revelation or revelations which each religion or religions claim to possess. Examining them impartially, comparing them and scrutinizing them, one cannot avoid discerning the human 'fingernail' and the stamp of the time in which they were written... No, let us not make God in our image, poor inhabitants that we are of a distant planet lost in infinite space. However, brilliant and sublime our intelligence may be, it is scarcely more than a small spark which shines and in an instant is extinguished, and it alone can give us no idea of that blaze, that conflagration, that ocean of light. I believe in revelation, but in that living revelation which surrounds us on every side, in that voice, mighty, eternal, unceasing, incorruptible, clear, distinct, universal as is the being from whom it proceeds, in that revelation which speaks to us and penetrates us from the moment we are born until we die. What books can better reveal to us the goodness of God, his love, his providence, his eternity, his glory, his wisdom? 'The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth his handiwork'
